![]() Obviously, Grand Theft Auto 5 is about shooting and looting and driving and all that, not the yoga portion. That's not something you would want to advertise. While yes, that is in the game, it's clearly not representative of the game. Now imagine if Rockstar was like, Okay, you know what? We're going to advertise our game, Grand Theft Auto 5, using only footage shown from the yoga portion of the game. It is so minuscule in the grand scheme of the game that clearly the yoga portion in Grand Theft Auto 5 is not representative of the overall game. It's something that takes you 10 seconds to do, and then that's it. ![]() It is simply something that you will do once, maybe twice, and then never touch again. But the yoga mini-games, to you, are simply an afterthought. But anyway, in Grand Theft Auto 5, you can do yoga, right? There are yoga mini-games that you can do. Everybody knows what Grand Theft Auto 5 is, right? I would hope so. To compare this, let's take a game like Grand Theft Auto 5. The rewards you get from it are so minuscule it is simply just an afterthought in the game. Even if these little mini-game things are somewhere in the game, they are so small in the overall scheme of how the game works that it's something you'll barely play. The court saw right through their ball and banned the ads because what's shown in the ads is clearly not representative of the actual game. It's not like they're completely fake, and we wanted to stand out essentially from the rest of the Candy Crush clones by using advertisements to make us look unique, which is pretty pathetic if you ask me. ![]() Essentially what they said was, Oh, you know, we do have these mini-games in our game. Various people complained about these ads, and so Playrix had to defend themselves. To give a little context, the UK (aka the ASA) ruled that various different ads on Facebook, at least that are from Playrix (the company who makes Gardenscapes and Homescapes), shall not be played anymore on Facebook. The reason why we're talking about them today is for something that is very sad to hear. They are extremely notorious for their terrible, fake, and misleading advertisements when, in reality, their game is a Candy Crush clone, so to speak. Now, you all know who Gardenscapes is, right? Gardenscapes make MORE FAKE ADS despite being BANNED ~ Gene Machine It's up to us as consumers to be aware of these misleading ads and not fall for their tricks. Overall, these fake mobile game ads generate millions of dollars for both the app companies and the platforms they advertise on. This game has some of the most egregiously fake gameplay, and the company is currently looking for a new ad team. However, none of these fake ads compare to the most memed one of all - Mafia City. In one case, the FTC had to step in with the company Just A Digital, who were running fake antivirus ads and angry birds but were actually selling ringtone credits. Even worse, these ads run inside of other ads, making them difficult to stop. Their CEO, Andrei Fadeev, even dressed up as an angel for a Russian Ted Talk.īut why don't ad platforms take down these fake ads? It's simple - they make millions allowing these ads to run. So, who makes these fake mobile game ads? Companies like Nexters Global, who make millions off these misleading ads. Some of these games even use stolen art with no repercussions. You've probably seen one of these games pop up on your Facebook or Instagram feed, but the game you download looks nothing like what was advertised. One of the worst offenders of misleading ads is app games. However, some of these targeted ads are intentionally misleading, like the bizarre ads that Trump ran about Biden before the election. From barbecue sauce to Kevin Hart selling shorts with no pockets, these ads are vying for your attention. If you've ever used the internet, you've probably been bombarded with targeted ads.
