You can run on that treadmill until you've accumulated enough gear to start trading, etc. Bone Necros have an easy time farming Players 1 Pindleskin with Corpse Explosion and Bone Spear. At this point you might have enough items lying around to trade or to gear another character.įor a newcomer, I suggest a Bone Necro as a starting class to open up this treadmill. The goal is never to "beat" Hell, but rather, to get to a point where you can comfortably farm Hell Mephisto and Hell Pindleskin.Īfter a few weeks of farming Hell Mephisto and Hell Pindleskin, your character should've grown in power by a decent margin, your MF will have gone up, and your farming speed will have gone up too. You are pretty much required to spend a lot of time in Nightmare farming Mephisto, Diablo and Baal, and maybe Andariel, to accumulate enough Normal and Exceptional unique items, set items and low to mid level runewords to progress and slowly open Hell. There are mercenaries you can hire who can potentially help you kill immunities you are unable to deal with, but undergeared mercs are complete trash. Builds that rely on their weapon to do damage potentially have it worse, as they might find themselves unable to progress much far in Hell due to low damage output. If you are playing say, a Sorceress or an Elemental Druid, or even a physical damage class, you might find yourself completely unable to complete the Den of Evil quest for your free skill point in Act 1 Hell, for example. In Hell difficulty, almost all creatures have at least 1 immunity to one type of damage. If you are a brand new player with no access to gear to twink out your characters, Hell can be brutal. If you want to be able to farm any and all areas, well, you will need godly end-game Ladder-only runewords and hundreds of hours of farming and trading if on. If you just want to beat Baal in Hell difficulty, most classes can do it with a bit of farming. It also depends on what you want to do in Hell. It depends a lot on the class you are playing and how much gear you have access to from other characters. With the D3 expansion, Loot 2.0, and the concept of greater rifts, they've been able to morph that into a fairly fun loop, especially now that Legendaries do all kinds of wacky things along with making the numbers on your screen get bigger.Īt launch, though?
